What is the Raphaelite Work?
The Raphaelite Work is a spiritual approach to healing and transformation for self and others. Through touch, breath, and presence, the Raphaelite Work addresses the wholeness of human existence and its five domains of human experience: physical, emotional, mental, moral, and spiritual. Through this work, the five domains can be restored to their natural tone. A new and more fully integrated sense of self can emerge.
Hands-on physical energetic sessions, One-to-One Processing sessions, and personal spiritual retreats are ways to do the Raphaelite Work. Clients learn a whole different way of orienting themselves that carries into everyday life.
Natural Tone, Presence and Space
Natural tone is the state of balance that represents optimum vitality for a person. This balance is unique to each person and changes over time. Through presence to the five domains, without judgment or manipulation, an individual develops an increased sense of spaciousness. Space, in turn, allows the natural process of restoration and transformation in each of the five domains. As a result, greater harmony and integration occur within these five domains and their relationship with each other.
Where does the Raphaelite Work come from?
Named for the archangel Raphael, the angel of Healing and Science, the Raphaelite Work is a meeting of science and spirit. This work integrates ancient Sufi teachings, wisdom from other spiritual paths, as well as insights from modern depth psychology, scientific research, and modern clinical practice. The work was founded by Himayat Inayati, head of the Sufi Healing Order, to transmit his discoveries from more than 25 years seeking the basis of healing. It is an expansion of the teaching of Hazrat Inayat Khan, who brought Sufism to the West in 1910, and founded the Sufi Order International and the Sufi Healing Order.
The Raphaelite Work is appropriate and accessible for anyone who is open to healing through Spirit, whether it is called God, or by another name.
Please note: The Raphaelite Work is not a substitute for medical treatment.
Neither the Sufi Healing Order nor the Sufi Order International is responsible for the actions of individual practitioners of the Raphaelite Work.
What can I expect in a Raphaelite Work session?
Two complementary types of sessions are available: physical energetic sessions and one-to-one processing sessions.
Physical Energetic Sessions:
In Raphaelite Work physical energetic sessions, the five domains are approached through assessment during an interview, physical touch to specific energetic points, and sharing afterwards about aspects of the session. Clients remain fully clothed. The first session ranges from 1 to 2 hours. Subsequent sessions last about 1 hour varying with practitioner and client.
One-to-One processing sessions:
In the 1-to-1 Raphaelite session, the practitioner supports the client in being present to his/her own being. The practitioner's gentle inquiry and non-judgmental presence promotes greater understanding of, and insight into, the issues confronting the client. The session may also help the client to process issues, which arise during physical energetic sessions. As the client becomes involved in the practice of presence, the practitioner serves as a sacred witness to the client's unfoldment. Most commonly, the one-to-one interview does not include hands-on energy work.
What can I expect in a Raphaelite spiritual retreat?
Embodied spirituality is the key in Raphaelite retreats that deepens the relationship of the retreatant with the Divine. Through practices using breath, presence, and sound in working with the five domains, the in-depth attention, time, and energy given to the inner experience allows a relationship with the Divine to more clearly manifest. Retreatants emerge with a stronger sense of their true self, the sacredness of their life's experience, and the value of spiritual presence. Benefits also include a broadened perspective and energy renewal. Retreats are guided by a certified Raphaelite retreat guide who usually meets once or twice a day with the retreatant.
Retreats are usually conducted on an individual basis. Beginning retreats are 1-5 days in seclusion. More experienced retreatants are encouraged to do 6-12 days.
Raphaelite Retreats are guided by those practitioners certified to offer them.
